When you are getting on a roller coaster at an amusement park, do you sometimes think "I don't want to sit in the very front because it is scary." or " I want to sit in the very front where it is more thrilling." ? Is there actually any difference between the front seat and back seat?

In fact, the back seat is considered scarier when the roller coaster is passing a summit. When the very first roller -coaster car traverses the top, the rear cars are still going up, which slows down the front car. On the other hand, the rear cars travel faster than the front cars to the top because they are being pulled by those cars that are now accelerating due to their descent.

Conversely, the front seat is more frightening when going through a valley. One would expect a rider in the front seat to go slower when climbing the next hill, but in reality they are sped up by the force of the rear cars that are still racing downhill.

That's why the rear car is traveling at a slower speed when it crosses the same point -the decelerating cars ahead of it cause it to slow down.

When the back cars go through the same point, it goes slower than  the front cars because the speed is the very front cars drops.
